Credit reference agencies:
We help customers obtain finance by a number of means. In order to get a picture of your true credit position, we/credit providers or brokers may access and search your credit file with a Credit Reference Agency ("CRA") and in order to provide certain services to you, we may share your information with such CRA's. We believe in informing customers at all stages about searches we carry out and we will seek your permission to complete these when they become necessary. If you choose to apply for a product, the lender will undertake a full credit check and provide you with further privacy information for that product and their service.

We also work with Contact State in order that we can pass on your request to our mortgage broker partners correctly. Contact State provides lead validation services to us and our mortgage broker partners.
Contact State receives "de-identified" data from us about your request - this means devoid of any contact information, or anything else identifying you as an individual person in the "real world". It uses that de-identified data to help confirm your request has been submitted by a "real" human and not a robot, or automated request generator. This is done by examining a "browser fingerprint" associated with your request – it contains, for example, details of the model of device you are using, your Internet browser, and the region from which you submit your request. Contact State retains that de-identified data for its own purposes as "data controller" and uses it
to help verify requests submitted through other websites.
We also use Contact State to check some basic details in your submission (for example, the postcode), and to route your submission in its "raw" plain-text form to the mortgage broker partners we work with.
